April 1, 2007 Brashear, Missouri

I hope you're enjoying your spring!  We're having a good time in Tiger-Pride planting potatoes and studying how plants use the sun as well as learning all about Ireland.  I know you're busy, but here are a few dates you might be interested in:  April 12th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. will be our last "Good Food Fast" class.  Anyone is welcome to attend and we'll be eating together, learning about how to prepare quick tasty food and you'll be able to take a meal home to freeze or to serve your family later in the week.  April 19th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. will be a YMCA Movie Night in Kirksville for all Tiger-Pride families.  Your children will be treated to a movie, snacks and recreation.

A quick reminder before I close!  When picking up your child/children in the afternoon, please remember to NOT pull completely into the Elementary parking lot.  Stay in the drive beside the playground.  This provides safer passage for our students and teachers and is consistent with the school-day

procedures.  If you need assistance getting your child from the school to your vehicle, please call and let us know which door to bring your child to and at what time.  My cell phone number is 660-216-8075 and I try to have my phone with me at all times.

Wendy Kerby

We will be conducting our annual Kindergarten registration on Monday, April 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the elementary school.  All district children who will be 5 years old prior to August 1, 2007 are eligible to register for Kindergarten for the 2007-2008 school year.  Please plan to bring your child’s birth certificate and immunization records with you on that day.

Yearbook sales have started and will continue through May.  This is the 59th edition of the BHS yearbook.  The number of yearbooks ordered for the year is limited—only 100 copies have been ordered.  Plan to order a yearbook early in order to reserve a copy for you and your family.

The cost is currently $45.  Personalized yearbooks are available until April 3 for an additional $5.  From Tuesday, April 3 until Tuesday, May 1 yearbooks will be $55.  Yearbooks ordered on or after May 1 will be $60.  Please make your check payable to Adair County R-II School.  Order forms may be returned to the elementary or high school offices.

Tuesday, April 3, 2007 is Election Day.  Patrons of the Adair County R-II School District will be voting to elect two school board members.  This year we have had three candidates file for the two available positions.  Those who have filed include incumbent Brent Hettinger, incumbent Matt Reeves, and Shelley Story.

The Family Advocacy Project will be offering Positive Parenting Classes during April 2007.  These classes are made possible with a grant from the Children’s Trust Fund of Missouri.  They are free to anyone who wishes to attend.  The classes will be held at 1400 S. Boundary in Kirksville.

These classes will be held April 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, and 18 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

To register, contact Karen Phipps, Coordinator at 660/665-4224.

Map Testing for high school students will be from April 2-12.  Elementary testing begins April 16.
