SCHOOL BOARD
RECOGNITION WEEK
Missourians benefit every day from
the dedicated energies and countless hours devoted by a group of more than
3,600 men and women in every community across the state. These public servants are elected by local
constituents and do not receive compensation for their tireless efforts. These men and women are the local school
board members of Missouri.
During the week of January 24-30,
communities across the state will honor the dedicated service of local boards
of education during School Board Recognition Week as declared by Governor Jay
Nixon. The goal is to build awareness
and understanding of the important function a board of education plays in
communities and schools. All Missouri
citizens are asked to recognize the important contributions of these men and
women and focus attention on the vital role school boards play in the education
of Missouri's children.

ELECTION NEWS
This year we have had two
candidates file for the two available positions on the Adair County R-II School
Board. Those who have filed include
James Reeves and Duayne Housman.
The district will not hold
an election since the number of candidates who have filed for the Board is
equal to the number of positions available.
MUSIC NEWS
Brashear Band t-shirts are
available from the past four years at a discounted price. If you are interested, please contact Mr.
Haupt.
Donate your unused instruments to
the Brashear Band program! Put them to
good use by placing them in the hands of an eager music student! We’ll take care of the cleaning and repairs.
BOX TOPS FOR
EDUCATION
A big thank you
to everyone who has clipped and turned in Box Tops. In October, we mailed in $939.00 worth of Box Tops. Our goal for
this year is $1,600.00.
We will be
mailing another shipment on February 26.
If you have Box Tops, please send them in by February 25th so they can
be counted and bundled.
Continue to save
your Box Tops after February as they will be used next year. We appreciate all of your support!

YEARBOOK SALES
Yearbook sales
are continuing. This is the 62nd
edition of the BHS yearbook. The number
of yearbooks ordered for the year is limited.
Plan to order a yearbook in order to reserve a copy for you and your
family.
Yearbooks bought
during the month of February will cost $55.
All yearbooks purchased after February 28 will cost $60. Personalized yearbooks are available for an
additional $5. Please make your check
payable to Adair County R-II School.

The following surplus lockers will
be offered for sale via silent auction on Thursday, February 25, 2010 during
the varsity basketball games with Marion County. Bidding will begin at 6:00 p.m. and conclude at halftime of the
boys contest.

BRASHEAR
TOURNAMENT
The Adair County
R-II 81st Annual Invitational Tournament will be held from Monday, February 8
through Saturday, February 13 at the Brashear High School Gymnasium. We will host teams from Atlanta, Kirksville
(JV girls), Knox County, Macon County, Marion County, North Shelby, Novinger,
and Putnam County (JV boys). The
tournament brackets are included with this mailing so you can find game times,
etc.
Admission fees
for the tournament will be $2.00 for students, $3.00 for adults with a maximum
of $8.00 per family. The family rate is
for parents and children only. It does
not include grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.
Admission for senior citizens will be $1.00. We hope to have good community support, as we always have, for
the tournament games.
We also ask you
to remember our tournament is centered around winning, as is true in any
competition. More important than
winning, however, is the attitude with which the fans and athletes approach the
game. As fans we must do our best to
set a good example for those around us.
Cheer for your favorite team in the spirit of the game and leave the
officiating to the officials who are trained for the task. We wish for each team to play their best,
and may the best team win!
After Prom will again be selling pulled
pork.
Orders will be taken from now until mid-March. Delivery will be at the end of March. Contact a junior, senior, or a junior/senior
parent to order.

Breakfast each day includes milk and
juice. The following items are offered
daily for students to choose from in lieu of the main entrée: yogurt or peanut
butter and jelly sandwich.
