PUBLIC LIBRARY PROGRAM NEWS

 

The following programs will be featured at the Adair County Public Library during the month of March.

 

For Students in Middle and High School

Teens and Tweens will meet on Tuesday, March 16 at 4:30 p.m. to produce book trailers.  Be sure to bring your favorite book!

 

For Students in Preschool - 5th Grade

Fairy Tale Theater

Leaping Leprechauns!  This afternoon program presented by Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity will feature Irish folklore on Thursday, March 18 at 4:30  p.m.

 

Spring into Reading with Dr. Seuss

Join the Truman Chapter of NEA on the first day of spring, Saturday, March 20 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. for an hour of Seussillyistic adventure.  Students are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite character from any Seuss book.

 

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART

 

On Saturday, February 20th eighteen students participated in the annual Jump Rope for Heart event.  The students jumped rope, played games, and enjoyed a wonderful lunch.  $1,005.00 was raised for the American Heart Association.  Thank you to everyone who donated to the event.

 

Congratulations to Kaelyn Sullivan for being the top fundraiser with a total of $210.  Congratulations also to Aubrey Bleything for being the winner of the pool party donated by the Depot Inn and Suites of LaPlata.

 

We would like to thank the following businesses who donated items to make our event successful.

 

*Hy-Vee - Gift card for fruit and vegetables

*Pepsi - bottles of water/flavored water

*Subway inside Wal-Mart - sandwiches for lunch

PLAYGROUND FUNDRAISER

 

The Brashear Playground Committee will be hosting a Spaghetti Supper on Monday, March 22 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in conjunction with the Book Fair and Author Night.  Cost of the supper is $5.00 ages 13 and up, $3.00 ages 3-12, and children under 2 are free.  The meal will include; spaghetti, garlic bread, lettuce salad, dessert, and drink.  We are asking for dessert donations.  If you can donate a dessert or have any questions, please contact Jo Kincaid ext. 24 or Toni Tuggle ext. 33 at 323-5272.

 

COMMUNITY EDUCATION CLASSES AVAILABLE

 

Kirksville Area Technical Center has numerous community education classes available to the public.  Enrollment began Monday, January 18, 2010 for the spring session.

 

Courses will be offered at KATC in the following areas during the months of March through June:  Computers, Technical, Health Occupations, Personal Enrichment, and Youth Classes.

 

For a listing of courses available, you may contact Kirksville Area Technical Center, the High School Office at Adair County R-II or by visiting KATC website at http://www.kirksville.k12.mo.us/tech_center and clicking on the link for Community Education.

 

You may register in person or by phone at the Community Education Office at the Kirksville Area Technical Center, 1103 South Cottage Grove, Kirksville, MO, between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.  The phone number is (660) 665-2865.

Breakfast each day includes milk and juice.  The following items are offered daily for students to choose from in lieu of the main entrée: yogurt or peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

 

March 1-5

Monday: Cereal, toast/Chicken nuggets, macaroni & cheese, vegetable, mandarin oranges, cookie, milk

Tuesday: Donut, fruit/Spaghetti, cottage cheese, vegetable, fruit, pumpkin bar, milk

Wednesday: Breakfast pizza/Mr. Ribb, mashed potatoes, vegetable, fruit, brownie, milk

Thursday: Apple or cherry strudel/Taco casserole, refried beans, lettuce, fruit, cake, milk

Friday: Sausage, toast/Fish sandwich, fries, vegetable, fruit, pumpkin bar, milk

 

March 8-12

Monday: Breakfast bites, syrup/Ravioli, broasted potatoes, vegetable, mandarin oranges, no bake cookie, milk

Tuesday: Biscuits & gravy/Hot ham & cheese, chips w/ cheese, vegetable, fruit, Oreo® pudding, milk

Wednesday: French toast sticks, syrup/Baked chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, peaches, chocolate cake, milk

Thursday: Pop tarts/Nachos, lettuce, vegetable, fruit, cookie, milk

Friday: NO SCHOOL

 

March 15-19

Monday: Waffle, syrup, sausage links/Tenderloin on bun, cheesy potatoes, vegetable, mandarin oranges, pumpkin bar, milk
