FREE SPORTS PHYSICALS

 

Free sports physicals will be provided for area athletes on June 4 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on June 5 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Kirksville Middle School Gymnasium.  Physicals will include cardiac, pulmonary and full orthopedic exams.  Athletes must take the MSHSAA physical form signed by a parent or guardian to the clinic.  If the physical is not signed by a parent or guardian, they will not be able to perform the physical.  If your child plans to participate in middle school softball or football (Knox County), softball, baseball, cheerleading, basketball, or track during the 2015-2016 school year, your child MUST have an updated MSHSAA pre-participation physical evaluation on file with the district before he/she can begin practice.  If he/she does not have a physical, he/she will not be allowed to participate.  Student signatures are required on pages 1, 3, and 4.  Parent signatures are required on pages 1 and 4.  Be sure to mark your calendar so that you can take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.  Students may pick up the MSHSAA physical forms from the high school office or online at http://www.kirksville.k12.mo.us/vimages/shared/vnews/stories/52254473ea861/MSHSAA%20Physical%20Form.pdf.

 

HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION

 

The Adair County R-II High School graduation ceremony will be held in the high school gymnasium on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at 3:00 p.m.  The public is cordially invited to attend.

The twelve seniors include Allison Garrett, Abigail Hall, Rachel Heimer, Chance Hill, Hannah Mason, Jacob Reeves, Rebecca Story, Gabriel Thomas, Allison Thompson,  Rhiannon Turner, Kimberlina Walitshek, and Shelby Watson.

The receiving line for the graduates will be in the cafeteria immediately following the ceremony.  In addition, National Honor Society will be hosting a punch and cookie reception.

Good luck Seniors in all your future endeavors!

 

SIXTH GRADE PROMOTION

 

The Adair County R-II sixth grade promotion ceremony will be held in the high school gymnasium on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 7:00 p.m.  The public is welcome to attend.

The eleven sixth graders include Callie Althide, Trace Gottman, Lathan Grgurich, Hannah Grissom, Garrett Housman,   Austin Peterson, Nikiah Smith, Norman Smith, Shauni Sykes, Madison Taylor, and Makenna Vorkink.

A reception will be held for the students in the cafeteria following promotion

 

YEARBOOKS

 

If you haven’t ordered your 2015 yearbook, it’s not too late.  Yearbooks may still be purchased for $35.  Please make your check payable to Adair County R-II School.

 

BREAKFAST/LUNCH MENU

 

Breakfast each day includes milk and juice. Students may choose cereal instead of the breakfast item offered. The following items are offered daily for students to choose from in lieu of the lunch entrée: yogurt or a WOWBUTTER® (peanut butter replacement) and jelly sandwich.

Friday: Cereal, toast, breakfast bar/Pizza, chips & cheese, corn, applesauce,  ice cream, milk

 

May 4-8

Monday: Egg omelet, toast/Walking taco, lettuce, refried beans, mandarin oranges, cookie, milk

Tuesday: Waffle, syrup, gogurt/Corn dog, tater tots, peas, pears, pumpkin bar, milk

Wednesday: Breakfast   pizza/Sub sandwich, chips, carrots, pineapple, Oreo® pudding, milk

Thursday: Biscuits & gravy/Nacho pie or sloppy joe, lettuce, peas, pears, rice krispie treat, milk

Friday: Long john, fruit/Tenderloin, cheesy potatoes, baked beans, applesauce, cookie, milk

 

May 11-15

Monday: Muffin, bagel, fruit/Mr. Rib, mashed potatoes, green beans, mandarin oranges, cookie, milk

Tuesday: Breakfast wrap/Pizza, chips & cheese, carrots, pineapple, brownie, milk

Wednesday: Breakfast   pizza/Fish, chips & cheese, sweet potatoes, pears, pumpkin bar, milk

Thursday: Biscuit, egg, sausage, cheese/Spaghetti, cottage cheese, sweet potatoes, peaches, cake, milk

Friday: Cook’s choice/Nachos, lettuce, peas, applesauce, pudding, milk

 

May 18

Monday: Donut, fruit, breakfast bar/Hot dog, chips, carrots, fruit, cookie, milk

 

TIGER PRIDE

 

Congratulations to Kristen Waltishek on being chosen as Honorable Mention in Division V Fiber Arts at the Tri-County Conference Art Show.

 

Congratulations to the junior high academic bowl team for their third place finish at the Tri-County Conference tournament.  Team members included Leah Grissom, Celia Kincaid, Justin McHenry, Lauren Platz, Austin Ray, Hannah Reeves, Noah Reeves, and Aden Zentz. 

 

Congratulations to Alli Garrett for being named to the Tri-County Conference all-tournament varsity academic bowl team.

 

Congratulations to the following students who won purple ribbons at District Industrial Arts contest in Moberly on Friday, April 17: Levi Blankenship—clock; Kiersten Hart—clock; Celia Kincaid—panda puzzle; Trever Love—scroll saw cross; Lauren Platz—biplane; Austin Ray—billfold; Hannah Reeves—billfold; Zane Sykes—truck and record; Gabe Thomas—headphone stand; Breann Turner—St. Louis skyline record; and Rhiannon Turner—hummingbird puzzle.  These students are eligible to compete at the State Industrial Arts contest on Tuesday, May 5 in Lake Ozark.

 

Congratulations to Abigail Hall on receiving a I rating for her clarinet solo at the District Solo/Small Ensemble Festival held at Kirksville on March 28.  Congratulations also to Allison Garrett, Abigail Hall, and Saydie Potter on receiving a II rating for their clarinet trio.  Abigail will be competing at the State Solo/Small Ensemble Festival on May 1.

 

SCHOOL BOARD REORGANIZES

 

The Adair County R-II Board of Education met in special session on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, to swear in new members and reorganize.  The officers elected are as follows:  President, Traci Hill; Vice  President, Jim Reeves; Secretary, Aaron Zentz; Treasurer, Alissa  Garlock; and Board  Delegate, Keith Turner.  Members are Duayne Housman and Jason Taylor.

The Board of Education meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m.  The agenda can be found posted on the door of the Superintendent’s office and at http://brashear.k12.mo.us/dept/super/index.htm.  The public is welcome to attend the open session.

 

LUNCH REFUNDS

 

Lunch refunds will only be given to Seniors on their last day of school.  Karla will be sending home bills for students with a negative balance in their accounts. Any money remaining in your child(ren)’s account(s) will be carried over to the 2015-2016 school year.  Refunds will be given only if requested. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Renee or Karla at 323-5272.

 

BLOOD DRIVE

 

The American Red Cross and Adair County R-II School will be sponsoring a Blood Drive on Friday, May 1st from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at the Keller Building.  To schedule an appointment, visit            redcrossblood.org.  Sponsor Keyword:  Brashear Community

 

PUBLIC LIBRARY NEWS

 

Farm Animal Petting Zoo     The Alpha Sigma Professional Agriculture Sorority will bring different animals and their babies to the     library on Tuesday, May 5 at 6:30 p.m.  The event will be held on the lawn, weather permitting.

The Summer Reading Program EVERY HERO HAS A STORY will be June 2 - July 2 with something happening at the library every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  Make plans to attend!
