FREE SPORTS PHYSICALS

 

Free sports physicals will be provided for area athletes on May 26 from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on May 27 from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Kirksville Middle School Gymnasium.  Physicals will include cardiac, pulmonary and full orthopedic exams.  Athletes must take the MSHSAA physical form signed by a parent or guardian to the clinic.  If the physical is not signed by a parent or guardian, they will not be able to perform the physical.  If your child plans to participate in middle school softball or football (Knox County), softball, baseball, cheerleading, basketball, or track during the 2016-2017 school year, your child MUST have an updated MSHSAA pre-participation physical evaluation on file with the district before he/she can begin practice.  If he/she does not have a physical, he/she will not be allowed to participate.  Student signatures are required on pages 1, 3, and 4.  Parent signatures are required on pages 1 and 4.  Be sure to mark your calendar so that you can take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.  Students may pick up the MSHSAA physical forms from the high school office or online at http://www.kirksville.k12.mo.us/vimages/shared/vnews/stories/52254473ea861/MSHSAA%20Physical%20Form.pdf.

HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION

 

The Adair County R-II High School graduation ceremony will be held in the high school gymnasium on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 3:00 p.m.  The public is cordially invited to attend.

The seventeen seniors include Erin Bradshaw, Jacob Gardner, Lucas Grgurich, Nick Haskell, Brody Henrichs, Byron Hines, Dalton Hocker, Skylar Housman, Patrick Jochimsen, Abigail Kerby, Dillon Klingsmith, Nicholas Leedom, Bailey Mihalovich, Sidney Sykes, Mandy Taylor, Kellie Wagster, and Kristen Walitshek.

The receiving line for the graduates will be in the cafeteria immediately following the ceremony.  In addition, National Honor Society will be hosting a punch and cookie reception.

Good luck Seniors in all your future endeavors!

 

SIXTH GRADE PROMOTION

 

The Adair County R-II sixth grade promotion ceremony will be held in the high school gymnasium on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 7:00 p.m.  The public is welcome to attend.

The ten sixth graders include Rudy Borntrager, Kyleigh Cima, Abilene Hartwig, Brandon Jochimsen, Adrian Mason, Connor Melendez, Jace Snelling, Sierra Snyder, Lane Stutsman, and Kynleigh White.

A reception will be held for the students in the cafeteria following promotion.

 

TIGER PRIDE

 

Congratulations to Abigail Kerby on being named to the All-Express Girls Basketball Honorable Mention Team.

 

Congratulations to the junior high academic bowl team for their first place finish at the Tri-County Conference tournament.  Team members included John Gerhold, Justin McHenry, Austin Ray, Fisher Reese, Noah Reeves, and Aden Zentz.  They also had an undefeated this season.  Way to go students!

 

Congratulations to Aden Zentz for being named MVP of the Tri-County Conference junior high academic bowl team.

 

Congratulations to the following students who won purple ribbons at District Industrial Arts contest in Moberly on Friday, April 22: Averi Acton—clock and earrings; Callie Althide—billfold; Drew Ford—log and record; Hannah Grissom—billfold; Skylar Housman—bird feeder; Trever Love—scroll saw cross; Lauren Platz—chest; Austin Ray—clock;  Zane Sykes—farm clock; Mandy       Taylor—end table; Kristen Walitshek—checker board, and Aden Zentz—deer call.  These students are eligible to compete at the State Industrial Arts contest on Tuesday, May 3 in Lake Ozark.

 

 

AWARDS BANQUET

 

The annual Awards Banquet will be held on Thursday, May 12.  The banquet will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the elementary gymnasium with the awards ceremony starting at approximately 7:00 p.m.

Each family attending is asked to bring two covered dishes and their own table service.  Drinks and some meat will be furnished by the Athletics department.  The public is welcome to attend.

 

SCHOOL BOARD REORGANIZES

 

The Adair County R-II Board of Education met in special session on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, to swear in new members and reorganize.  The officers elected are as follows:  President, Traci Hill; Vice  President, Jim Reeves; Secretary, Duayne Housman; Treasurer, Alissa  Garlock; and Board Delegate, Keith Turner.  Members are Jason Taylor and Aaron Zentz.

The Board of Education meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m.  The agenda can be found posted on the door of the Superintendent’s office and at http://brashear.k12.mo.us/dept/super/index.htm.  The public is welcome to attend the open session.

 

LUNCH REFUNDS

 

Lunch refunds will only be given to Seniors on their last day of school.  Any money remaining in your child(ren)’s account(s) will be carried over to the 2016-2017 school year.  Refunds will be given only if requested.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Renee or Karla at 323-5272.

 

BLOOD DRIVE

 

The American Red Cross and Adair County R-II School will be sponsoring a Blood Drive on Wednesday, May 4th from 2:00-6:30 p.m. at the Keller Building.

CONCERT IN THE PARK

 

Please plan to join us on Monday, May 2nd for a Concert in the City Park  featuring soloists and ensembles from the school music department playing their  favorite music from popular movies.

Homemade pies will be  auctioned off between performances to benefit the Brashear Music Department.

Ice cream will be served after the concert.  Please remember to bring your own chairs or blankets to sit on.

The concert will begin at 6:00 p.m.  Join us for a fun evening of music and sweets!  Everyone is invited to attend—bring a friend and support our music program.

Breakfast each day includes milk and juice. Students may choose cereal instead of the breakfast item offered. The following items are offered daily for students to choose from in lieu of the lunch entrée: yogurt or a WOWBUTTER® (peanut butter replacement) and jelly sandwich.
