BUILDING COMMITTEE MEETS

The building committee has met several times throughout the summer and fall, looking for a solution for an improved elementary facility.

The committee has reviewed historical data, visited with a representative from Whiston Construction concerning building options, and reviewed architectural drawings for proposed solutions.

The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 12 at 7:30 p.m. At this time Porter & Associates will present a facility study. The public is invited to attend.

HONORARY DIPLOMAS

FOR VETERANS

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is now working with the Missouri Veterans Commission to implement a new program known as "Operation Recognition," which was established this year by the General Assembly. Through this statewide program, the state department will award honorary high school diplomas to eligible Missouri veterans who dropped out of school to serve in the armed forces. World War I, World War II and Korean War veterans (alive or deceased) are eligible for this honor.

The Missouri Veterans Commission is already accepting applications from Missouri veterans who are interested in the honorary diploma. If you or someone you know is interested in this program, you may contact the Central Office for an application.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our "Penny Drive" for the American Red Cross. We collected a total of $303.21 to be sent to the victims in Washington D.C. and New York.

Along with our collection, the school contributed the following: High School Student Council, $250; Junior Class, $100; Freshman Class, $100; Art Club, $75; and Faculty and Staff, $190. The Adair County R-II School's total donation was $1,018.21.
