Parents please expect packets of forms to be sent home with your students the first day. You will be receiving free/reduced meal applications, emergency cards, insurance applications and other important forms. Go through them the first evening and complete all the ones that need to be returned to the school.

STUDENT IMMUNIZATIONS

State law requires all students to have proper and up-to-date immunizations to be allowed to attend school. Notices were sent to district students who needed immunizations over the summer to remain current. If you received such a letter and have not had the required immunization(s), you must do so before August 23 or you will not be allowed to attend school.

DISTRICT BULLETINS

The annual school district bulletins were mailed to all district patrons and the patrons of neighboring school districts on July 25. If you have not received one, please call or stop by the office. They contain valuable information such as schedules, fees, policies and staff listings for our district.

CHANGES IN
BUS ROUTE SCHEDULE

The bus schedule will be different than last year. There will be four bus routes. The bus and driver for your student(s) may be different from last year. Times may vary. Be ready the first few days until the students and drivers get in a routine.

Teri Crandall will drive bus 37. Her route will begin at her house at approximately 7:05 a.m. She will drive west and north to Willmathsville then south and west picking up all stops north of and including Adair. She will conclude her route with all stops along Route J ending in Brashear at 8:15 a.m. The evening route will be reversed.

John Shahan will drive bus 36. He will leave the bus lot at approximately 7:10 a.m. and will start picking up at Schneiderheinze and then around to Moyer. Then he will cross Route J and run the route Lajeana ran last year. Kelsey then north and west picking up to Glen Snyder. He will drive the west side of the district and back in on Route 6. The evening route will run the same way.

Bus 35 will be driven by Tony Morton. He will begin in the southwest part of the district on Route F. He will pick up Wheeler, Mihalevich and Turner, then he will pick up Gibbs, working back toward Brashear picking up all stops along both sides of Route 6 (much like Jeff's old route). Ending will pick up near Brashear at 8:15 a.m. The evening route will be reversed.

Bus 34 will be driven by Marvin Magruder. He will run the south route (Larry's old route) much like last year. Beginning at approximately 7:20 a.m. in the southwest corner at Sykes picking up north of Route E down route along both sides picking up all stops south and west of Gibbs, then will return along the east side of the district and will make pick up near Brashear, ending by picking up Potter and Harrelson at about 8:10 a.m. The evening route will be reversed.

These routes will be better for some and more difficult for others. The arrival times may vary somewhat until the route is run a few times. We hope the changes will not inconvenience you. If you have more questions, please contact John Baker, Transportation Director, at 323-5272.

MARCHING TIGERS
BAND CAMP

The annual Tiger Marching Band Camp will begin Monday, August 14 at 5:00 p.m. and conclude around 8:00 p.m. for flags and auxiliary, and at 6:30 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. for everyone else. The camp will continue through Friday, August 18. All students are expected to attend each evening. Please notify Mrs. Harrison if you have any unavoidable conflicts.

Please note that those students playing marching percussion will meet at 6:00 p.m. each evening for sectional work. They will have a few minutes extra break in the evening to help make up for the extra time. Flags will also be getting some break time while the drumline is rehearsing.

There will be a Booster Meeting at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 18 which all parents are encouraged to attend. After a brief business meeting, uniforms will be fitted for all members. Parents please bring measuring tapes and straight pins as hems will need to be marked for sewing.

Listed below are some tips to help you prepare for the camp:

  1. Start/Continue playing your horn. Warm-up and play some scales and simple songs to begin building endurance and tone quality.
  2. Get into shape. Stretch your muscles, especially your legs. Do some intense walking, biking, swimming, or whatever gets you moving.
  3. Wear proper shoes. This means closed-toe shoes with laces and arch support (tennis-shoes).
  4. Be ready to work. Whether on the street or in the bandroom, make sure you bring whatever is necessary for you to be as comfortable as possible while training, ie. sunglasses, water jugs, sweat bands, power bars during breaks, etc.
  5. Come with a good attitude. Camp will only be as successful as YOU make it.

PARAPROFESSIONAL NEEDED

The Adair County R-II School District has a job opening for a person to work in the At-Risk Program. The person needs to enjoy working with students and have 60 hours of college credits (required to obtain a substitute teaching certificate).
