Brashear Homecoming

The Tigers Hosted the Atlanta Hornets Friday Night for Homecoming.

Just a few weeks ago, Brashear and Atlanta faced off in the North Shelby Tournament. On that night, Lady Tiger Kimberly Elsea who wears jersey number 23, poured in 23 points in the Brashear victory. Friday night, Lady Tiger ChaRae Cole who wears jersey number 11 was the one who scored 23 (Elsea's number), while Elsea scored 11 (Cole's number). If that weren't unusual enough, teammate Jessi Hill who wears jersey number 13 scored 13 points. With all of this Tiger scoring, you may have already guessed that the Lady Tigers rolled to a 63-32 victory over Atlanta. Also scoring for Brashear were Christina Scudder with 9, and Hailee Kelsey with 7 points. Atlanta was led by Joni Ahern who had a triple-double with 17 points, 17 rebounds and 12 blocks. Tiffany Watson had 7 points, and Janessa Thurman and Stacie Sagaser each scored 4 points for the Hornets.

With one victory under their belt on the night, it was time for the Tigers to crown their homecoming royalty. Last year's King and Queen, Tyler Killen and Ashley Clarkson presided over the ceremony and made the presentations. The 2006 Homecoming King and Queen were Jeremy Clay and Christina Scudder from the Sophomore Class. Their attendants were Luke Lunsford and Bridget Clarkson from the Junior Class and Andrew Linhart and Rachel Pruett from the Senior Class. The 2006 Prince and Princess were Zach Reeves and Stephanie Elsea from the 7th grade class. Their attendants were Trever Bunch and Stephanie Linhart from the 8th grade class and Jacob Sweet and Hannah Bishop of the 9th grade class. In other homecoming festivities, the cheerleaders performed a dance routine at half-time of the boy's game.

The last time the Brashear and Atlanta boys met was at the North Shelby Tournament and things did not go well for Brashear. During the 1st half of this Homecoming contest, things were looking much better for Brashear. Even though Atlanta led during the 1st half, Brashear stayed close trailing 20-15 after the 1st quarter and 37-32 at the half. The promise of the 1st half quickly melted away after half-time as the Hornets outscored the Tigers 29-4 during the 3rd quarter. Brashear managed to slow the Hornet scoring somewhat in the 4th quarter, but the damage was done. Atlanta got the win by a final score of 81-46.
