Canton Tigers Visit Brashear Tigers Friday
The host Tigers proved no match for the visitors from Canton.
Friday night was a break from Conference competition for Brashear
as they hosted Canton. It didn't take long for the Canton Lady
Tigers to put Brashear behind the 8-ball as they applied a strong
press and built up a 14-6 1st quarter lead. Brashear adjusted
during the second quarter and went into half-time trailing 22-15.
The 3rd quarter dashed Brashear's hopes for a comeback with
Canton outscoring Brashear 20-11. Brashear did manage a late
surge, but couldn't close the gap and eventually fell 50-40.
Kimberly Elsea had 15 points for Brashear, ChaRae Cole had 9,
Chelsey Collop scored 6, Ashley Clarkson and Hailee Kelsey each
had 4, and Jessi Hill had 2 points. Lindsey Lillard led Canton
with 18, Emily Lay and Danielle Cardwell each had 10, Halley Mims
had 8, and Audrey Redmon scored 4 points.
In the boy's game, Brashear had no better luck than the girls
with Canton roaring out to a 21-2 1st quarter lead. Canton
extended their lead to 36-9 at half-time and pulled away for a
59-21 win. Kale Watson led Brashear with 6 points, Ryan Ferdig
had 4, David Anderson had 3, and Josiah Belzer, Kiley Watson,
Jacob Shipman, and Tyler Killen each had 2 points. Canton was led
by Jared Shaller with 12, Adam Potts, DeWan Lloyd, and Jordan
Ayers each had 11, Justin Ellison had 6, Lance Uhlmeyer had 4,
and Richard Cardwell and Jesse Job each had 2 points.
