Brashear Visits Knox County In Tuesday Night Basketball Action
Both Brashear and Knox County start off the new year with a
win, and a loss.
The Brashear Lady Tigers ended 2005 on an up note with a road win
at Milan and hoped to keep that momentum into 2006. Standing in
the way was class 2 opponent, the Knox County Lady Eagles. The
Lady Eagles got on the board first with a pair of free throws and
a bucket. Brashear answered with a 3-pointer and a 2 pointer and
built a 10-4 lead by the end of the first quarter. Knox County
matched Brashear point for point during the second quarter going
into halftime trailing the Lady Tigers 20-14. Brashear was able
to extend their lead during the second half eventually getting
the win 41-28. For Brashear, ChaRae Cole had 14 points, Christina
Scudder had 10, Kimberly Elsea scored 8 points, Hailee Kelsey had
5, and Jessi Hill had 4 points. Knox County was led by Amanda
Woods with 8, Stephanie Hicks and Billie Mitchell with 5 each,
Tessa Ramer and Miranda James with 4 each, and Nicole Harrison
with 2 points. Brashear improves their season record to 5-4.
The Tigers knew they would have their hands full with the Eagles,
but stayed close most of the first half. Brashear only trailed by
4, 15-11 at the end of the first quarter, but Knox County managed
to extend their lead to 29-17 at half-time. Brashear was only
able to put up 9 points against Knox County's tough defense in
the second half allowing Knox County to pull away for the 54-26
win. Scoring for Brashear were Kale Watson with 5, Tyler Killen
and Kiley Watson with 4 each, Andrew Linhart, Ryan Ferdig, and
Justin Hazen with 3 each, and David Anderson and Trae Treasure
with 2 each. For Knox County, Cory Shultz led with 13 followed by
Brett Hamlin with 12 points. Zach Parrish had 7, Daniel McMahon
had 6, Andrew Parrish had 5, Caleb Shubert and Trever Parton each
had 4, and Brett Hunter had 3 points.
Brashear will visit Schuyler County Friday night.
