Brashear Tigers Visit Linn County Tuesday Night
Brashear's 6 game road trip continues. The Tigers have one
more road game at Novinger before hosting LaPlata December 13th.
The drive between Brashear and Linn County is one of the longest
in the Tri-County Conference, and the trip home Tuesday must have
felt like a thousand miles after the Tigers dropped a pair to the
Linn County Mustangs.
In the girls game, Brashear jumped out to an early 11-6 lead, but
saw it melt away again and ended up trailing by small margins
most of the game. Brashear was within 3 after each quarter and
had 2 chances to win the game having possession with the game
tied and a half a minute left and again having a last second shot
that could have won or tied the game. The final score was 40-38
Linn County. For Brashear, Kimberly Elsea was high scorer with
10. Both Hailee Kelsey and Christina Scudder had 4 buckets
apiece, Chelsey collop had 6 points, Charae Cole had 4, and Jessi
Hill had 2. Brashear shot zero free throws on the night. Linn
County's Amber Tetiner lead the Mustangs with 13, followed by
Kelsey Tornow and Whittney Bennet with 8 each. Jaime Guffey had
6, Jessica Abbot had 3, and Amber Munstner had 2.
In the boys game, Brashear led by 11 at halftime. The Mustangs
weren't ready to call it quits, turning in a 23 point 3rd quarter
performance. The score was 36-36 at beginning of 4th quarter and
the battle see-sawed the rest of the game. Key free throws down
the stretch allowed the Mustangs to outscore Brashear by 3 in the
4th quarter and get the win 51-48. Kale Watson lead the Tigers
with 16, followed by Jacob Shipman and Trae Treasure with 8
each.Justin Hazen had 7, Ryan Ferdig had 4, Kiley Watson added 3
and Andrew Linhart added 2. The Mustangs had three players in
double digit scoring: Cody Mundell had 15, Wes Allnott had 14,
Jason Grismore added 10, Skyeler Sayer had 6, Jake Oder had 5,
and Dustin Singleton had 1.
