Brashear Hosts Novinger
Friday was Senior Recognition Night at the Tri-County Conference
game between Novinger and host Brashear.
In Friday's girls matchup, Novinger got off to a quick start
consisting of several forced turnovers and fast breaks allowing
them to run up an 18-9 first quarter lead. After the disastrous
1st quarter, the Lady Tigers played a fairly even game against
the Lady Wildcats. As Brashear began to build some momentum after
the half, they were ultimatly thwarted by Novinger's free throw
shooting having 12 fouls assessed against them while Novinger was
only whistled for 2 second half fouls. Novinger made 15-16 2nd
half free throws to seal the 57-44 win. Senior ChaRae Cole put on
a "Senior Night" show with a 3 pointer from well behind
the arc at the end of the game which gave her 10 points on the
night. Kimberly Elsea had 14, Christina Scudder had 8, and Jessi
Hill and Hailee Kelsey each had 6 points for Brashear. Kourtney
Brawner led Novinger with 23 points including 7 free throws in
the 4th quarter. Katelyn Brawner had 15, Katie King had 8,
Whitney Middleton had 7, and Emily Wayman had 4 points.
The boys game saw Novinger get out to an early lead and outscore
Brashear for the 69-41 win. Brashear's 2 seniors, Andrew Linhart
and Kale Moore, both made good accountings of themselves with 11
and 8 points. Tyler Killen had 10, David Anderson and Kale Watson
each had 4, and Josiah Belzer and Jacob Shipman each had 2
points. Novinger had 3 players in double figures as Justin Denton
had 21, Grant Daniels had 17, and Evan Sthole had 13 points.
Dakota Jacques added 9, Caleb Dodson had 6, and Josh Denton had 3
points.
Brashear hosts North Shelby Tuesday night and will finish their
regular season Friday on the road at Macon County. District play
will begin Saturday at Green City where the Brashear boys have a
rematch with Novinger and the Brashear girls will face Atlanta.
