Brashear Drops a Pair at Schuyler County Friday
Both Tiger teams have poor second halves allowing Schuyler to
pull away.
The Brashear Lady Tigers hoped their good fortune against class 2
teams Milan and Knox County would extend to their game against
class 2 neighbor Schuyler County. For the first quarter and a
half, things looked like they were going Brashear's way with the
Lady Tigers holding a 22-15 lead. Then the Lady Tigers shooting
when ice-cold allowing Schuyler to make a 7-0 run tying the game
22-22 at half-time. Continued poor shooting and foul trouble by
Brashear in the second half sealed the deal for Schuyler's 1st
win of the season. The final score was 55-38. Brashear's scoring
was paced by Kimberly Elsea and Hailee Kelsey with 14 and 13
points respectively. ChaRae Cole had 4 points, Chelsey Collop had
3, and Jessi Hill and Christina Scudder scored 2 points each. For
Schuyler, Nicole Winkler and Tahnee Poe each scored 13. Tara
Verkuilen added 7, Tensel Sandker had 6, Allison Burt had 5,
Jackie Roberts and Natalie Sayre each had 4, Kanada Nelson scored
2 and Whitney Sayre had 1 point.
The boy's game seemed to follow the same pattern as the girls
contest with the Tigers staying close in the first half, but the
Rams were able to pull away in the second half. Brashear was
still within 5, 29-24 at half-time before Scott Beeler and Jacob
Winkler teamed up for 14 third quarter points dashing any hopes
of Brashear climbing back into the game. Schuyler took the
contest by a final score of 71-37. Kale Watson led Brashear with
14 points, followed by Ryan Ferdig with 7, Jacob Shipman with 6,
Justin Hazen with 5, Tyler Killen and Trae Treasure with 2 each
and Kiley Watson with 1 point. Jacob Fowler led the scoring for
the Rams with 22, Jacob Winkler had 11, Logan Shively had 9,
Scott Beeler had 8, Chris Oliver and Tyler Green each had 6,
Chris Calhoun had 5, Jordan Neagle had 4, and Eric Duncan had 1
point.
