Tri-County Conference Academic Bowl Tournament

Both Brashear JH and Varsity Teams Take 1st

On Saturday, April 1, 2006, academic bowl teams from the 9 schools of the Tri-County Conference met at Linn County High School for their annual conference tournament. Both Brashear teams won 4 straight games to claim the conference titles. The Varsity squad picked up victories over Linn County (220-120), Bucklin (250-120), Green City (190-100), and Macon County (210-170) in the Championship game. The Junior High team picked up wins over Bucklin (380-220), Linn County (345-195), LaPlata (335-260), and LaPlata again (355-150) in the Championship game. Brashear had 3 players on the all-tournament teams. Josiah Belzer was named to the Varsity all-tournament team, and Jay Scudder and Caroline Slavin both made the JH all-tournament team.
The Varsity team finished their regular season with a 10-2 record and will be competing in the District academic bowl tournament Saturday, April 8, at Brashear. The JH team completed their season with a perfect 12-0 record.
