Brashear Tigers Host Linn County Friday in Baseball/Softball
Home Opener
The two teams split on the evening as they both start Tri-County
Conference play.
The Brashear Lady Tigers may have already played their first game
of the season, but they still hadn't rid themselves of those
first game jitters Friday night. Brashear managed to retire Linn
County in order in the 1st inning, then pushed across a run to
lead 1-0. Linn County tied things up in the second and lead 3-1
after three. As the game progressed, things went downhill as a
series of base-running errors robbed the Tigers of chances to
score while Linn County was managing to put the ball in play.
Tiger fielding errors compounded the problem as Linn County ran
up a 10-1 lead after 6 innings. The Tigers tried to mount a
comeback in the bottom of the seventh, but could manage only 3
runs giving the Mustangs a 10-4 win.
Jessi Hill, Kimberly Elsea, Shanea Rusk, Andrea Reeves, Carmen
Woods, and Hailee Kelsey each had singles and Christina Scudder
had a single and a double for Brashear.
The Baseball Tigers got their season off to a good start taking a
7-1 victory over Linn County. The Tigers managed to score in the
bottom of the third to take a 1-0 lead, but Linn County answered
in the top of the 4th knotting things up at 1 all. The real Tiger
breakthrough came in the 5th with a 6 run outburst that iced the
game.
Kale Watson, Kiley Watson, Michael McKim, and Trae Treasure each
had a single and Justin Hazen and Jacob Shipman each had a double
for Brashear.
Brashear will travel to Macon County Thursday, August 31 for a
conference baseball/softball double header.
