Brashear Hosts Atlanta in Junior High Basketball Home Opener
The Tigers have a great night sweeping both A and B games.
The evening started with a 2 quarter girls B game. Brashear came out on top 6-5 with Abby McKim scoring 4 for the Tigers. Lindsey Rhoades and Tasheia Brookhart each had a bucket for Atlanta. Two quarters of boys B action followed with the Tigers again getting a win 12-7. Joe Clarkson scored 6 for Brashear and Aaron Sampson had 4 for Atlanta.
After the B games, it was time for the girls A game. Brashear jumped out to an 18-6 halftime lead and won going away by a score of 40-22. Ashley Collop and Shelby Rogers each scored 10 for Brashear and Sammy Halley led Atlanta with 8 points. The boys game was a hard fought thriller. Neither team could seem to find the right scoring combination and the score was tied 16 all at the end of the 3rd quarter. The score was still tied around the 3 minute mark, but a pair of clutch free throws by Anthony Ambrosia helped Brashear gain the upper hand in getting the 24-20 win. Ambrosia led Brashear with 15 points, 8 of which came in the 4th quarter. Atlanta was led by Travis Miller and Zach Voss who each had 7 points.
Brashear hosts LaPlata Tuesday and will travel to Green City Thursday before ending the week at home with a 7-8 girls contest with Mary Immaculate.
