LaPlata JH Basketball at Brashear Tuesday
Brashear girls get A and B wins while LaPlata boys sweep A and B games.
The Brashear and LaPlata girls came out pressing hard in the first half and the game was close throughout the first half with Brashear heading into halftime with a 22-17 lead. The Lady Tigers began to pull away in the second half and cruised to a 44-25 win. For Brashear, Ashley Collop and Shelby Rogers scored 10 each, Macy Rogers had 8 points, Stephanie Elsea had 6, Emily Ladwig and Sydney Slavin had 4 each, and Megan Taylor scored 2 points. For LaPlata, Jeana Bane and Emily Snodgrass scored 7 each, Rachel Shahan and Amanda Summers had 4 each, and Shelby Waddle had 3 points.
In the boys game, LaPlata scored early and often jumping out to a 16-9 first quarter lead. Despite a 13 point second quarter, Brashear still found themselves trailing 30-22 at halftime. LaPlata's lead was never threatened in the second half and the Bulldogs won by a score of 52-30. Brashear was led by Anthony Ambrosia with 13 points, Adam Songer with 7, and Jay Scudder, Daniel Smith, Hayden Coin, and Cody Snelling with 2 points each. For LaPlata, Birdie Buck had 17 points, Weston Smith and Taylor Wheeler had 10 each, Dalton Smith and Christian Bunch had 6 each, J.T. Allen had 2, and Tim Juricic had 1 point.
In girls B action, Brashear came out on top 7-3 while the LaPlata B boys handed Brashear an 18-11 loss.
