Brashear Hosts LaPlata For Basketball

The Junior High "B" squads from Brashear and LaPlata met Saturday morning.

In the girls game, neither team could get much offense going in the 1st half with LaPlata taking a 6-1 lead to the locker rooms. Both teams found the basket a little better in the 2nd half of this hard-fought battle with LaPlata taking the win 17-7. LaPlata's top scorer was Emily Heissler with 8, followed by Cassie Kimmel with 6, Taylor Burlington with 2, and Haley Cook with 1 point. For Brashear, Abby McKim had 4 points, Kristen Love had 2, and Abigail Wheeler had 1 point.

LaPlata also jumped out to an early lead in the boys game going into halftime up 16-8. Brashear was able to close the gap to 26-22 early in the 4th quarter, but LaPlata pulled away once more for a 34-26 win. LaPlata was led by Taylor Herron with 7, followed by Jake Waddle and Howe with 5 each, Jake Heissler, Cole Wheeler, and J.T. Allen had 4 each, Hayden Fouch had 3, and Groseclose had 2 points. For Brashear, Hayden Coin had 10 points, Adam Songer and Joe Clarkson had 6 each, and Cody Snelling and Jay Scudder had 2 points each.
