Brashear Finishes Regular JH Season On The Road At Linn County Thursday

The Tigers spoiled Linn County's homecoming by sweeping a pair of conference games.

The Brashear Lady Tigers made the long trek to Linn County knowing they would be facing an opponent that hadn't lost many games. Brashear wasted no time and ran up a 10-2 first quarter lead and went into halftime up 18-7. Linn County made a 4th quarter run, but it was too little, too late as Brashear took the game 32-20. Macy Rogers had 10 points for Brashear, Shelby Rogers had 8, Megan Taylor, Emily Ladwig, and Sydney Slavin had 4 each, and Katie Smith had 2 points. For Linn County, Meagan Nichell and Kassandra Harrington each had 6 points, Samantha Klinger had 4, Megan Finney had 2, and Laura Hardy and Jessica Hayes had 1 point each. In the B quarter, Brashear lost 5-4.

In the boy's game, Linn County lead 7-6 at the end of the first quarter, but Brashear had pulled ahead 15-12 by halftime. The game continued to be a nail-biter with the score tied 21 all after 3. Neither team could put the game away down the stretch, but with the game tied 30 all and less than 20 seconds left, Anthony Ambrosia stole the ball and went down for a lay up to ice the 32-30 win for Brashear. Ambrosia led Brashear with 15 points, Adam Songer added 5, Cody Snelling had 4, Daniel Smith and Nick Thomas had 3 each, and Hayden Coin scored 2 points. Linn County was led by Shane Rardon with 10, Brandon Montgomery had 9, and Johnny Collis and Jonathon Hostetter had 1 point each. Linn County took the B quarter 8-3.

The Lady Tigers finished their conference season with a 7-1 record while the Tigers finished 3-5 in conference play.
