Atlanta JH Basketball Tournament 1st Round Results
Brashear Lady Tigers advance to championship semi-finals while the Tigers fall into the consolation bracket.
In Tuesday night action, the #2 seed Brashear girls rolled to an easy victory over #7 Bucklin by a score of 28-4. Emily Ladwig led Brashear scorers with 9 points. Shelby Rogers added 6, Macy Rogers had 5, Stephanie Elsea had 4 points, and Kristen Love and Sydney Slavin had 2 each. Jesse Hicks had 2 for Bucklin, and Brook Standley and Allison Liebhart had 1 point each.
The #6 Brashear boys got off to a strong start and were tied 8-8 with #3 Bevier at the end of the 1st quarter. Bevier dominated the 2nd quarter outscoring the Tigers 13-2 during that period. Brashear put together a 2nd half comeback pulling within 3 at 30-27 late in the 4th quarter, but Bevier hung on for the 33-27 win. Brashear's Anthony Ambrosia led all scorers with 16. Cody Snelling and Nick Thomas added 4 each, and Joe Clarkson had 3 points. Jesse Shelmadine led Bevier with 12, Drew Kerns had 9, Wade Teter and Dalton Livingston had 5 each, and Andy McGhee had 2 points.
In other Tuesday games, the #3 Atlanta girls defeated #6 Macon County 35-15, and the #7 Macon County boys upset #2 Green City 36-35 in overtime.
In Monday's girls action, #1 Novinger beat #8 Green City 27-14, and #4 LaPlata defeated #5 Bevier 42-12. On the boy's side, #1 LaPlata edged #8 Atlanta 59-43, and #5 Bucklin upset #4 Novinger 40-12.
