Brashear Hosts Schuyler County Friday Night.
The Tigers and Rams split a pair in non-conference action.
In the girl’s game, Brashear built a 14-8 lead after one, but the Lady Rams outscored the Lady Tigers 13-9 in the 2nd quarter to pull within 23-21 at the half. The game remained competitive throughout the 2nd half, but a late Schuyler County rally fell short with Brashear picking up the 47-40 win.
For Brashear, Kimberly Elsea and Hailee Kelsey were both in double figures with 14 and 12 points. Christina Scudder chipped in 7, Jessi Hill and Chelsea Collop had 6 each and Ashley Clarkson scored 2 points. Tahnee Poe and Tara Verkuilen were both in double figures for Schuyler County with 14 and 10 points. Kaitlin Stump added 6, Jackie Roberts scored 4, and Natalie Sayre, Elisabeth Jones and Nicole Winkler had 2 points each.
The Schuyler County boys proved that they are not a team that gives up easily. After Brashear went up 19-2 in the first quarter, Schuyler battled back with a 21 point 2nd quarter to tie the game at 25 all at halftime. Brashear built a 10 point lead in the 2nd half, but again the Rams fought back to overtake Brashear late in the 4th. Schuyler put up 23 points in the 4th to get the 58-48 win.
Jacob Shipman led a trio of Brashear players in double figures with 16. Matt Thomas had 13 and Kale Watson added 12. Ryan Ferdig had 4, Justin Hazen had 3, and Kiley Watson scored 2 points. Schuyler County also had 3 in double figures. Tyler Green had 19, Jacob Winkler had 17, and Logan Shively had 10 points. Eric Dunlan added 6, Jordan Neagle had 4, and Greg Buckallew scored 2 points.
