Brashear at Canton Friday

The Canton Tigers celebrate homecoming with a pair of wins over the Brashear Tigers.

The Class 2, 2nd ranked Canton Lady Tigers made short work of Brashear Friday. After a closely contested 1st 7 minutes, Canton scored a couple of quick buckets to go up 14-8 at the 1st quarter break. Their lead had extended to 31-18 at halftime and 41-24 after 3 quarters. Canton picked up the win by a margin of 53-30. Danielle Caldwell scored 19 for Canton. Lindsey Lillard added 12, Tori Niemann had 10, Jessi Logsdon had 8, and Kelsey Owsley and Emily Lay scored 2 points each. Brashear's scoring was led by Kimberly Elsea with 11, Chelsey Collop had 6, Hailee Kelsey had 5, and Ashley Clarkson, Caroline Slavin, Christina Scudder, and Ashley Collop scored 2 points each.

The Brashear boys faired no better in their contest. Canton led 12-6 after 1, 29-18 at half, 48-27 after 3 quarters and took the win 63-33. For Canton, Justin Ellison had 16 points, Josh Fellinger and Paul Ricketts had 10 each, Andrew Redmon had 9, Josh Lee added 8, Richard Caldwell had 7, Nathan Uhlmeyer had 2, and Grant Lay scored 1 point. For Brashear, Jacob Shipman scored 9, Kale Watson had 8, Kiley Watson had 6, Matt Thomas had 4, and Justin Hazen, Ryan Ferdig, and Trae Treasure scored 2 points each.
