Girls Semi-Finals in Class 1 - District 6 at LaPlata
Top seeded Green City and 2nd seeded Brashear advance to Thursday's championship game.
The Brashear Lady Tigers and the Linn County Lady Mustangs hadn't met since December 5th when Brashear picked up a 51-42 Tri-County Conference win. It was apparent early on that this rematch might be more of a defensive battle than the 1st meeting. Brashear jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, but only led 9-5 after the 1st quarter. Linn County kept chipping away at the Lady Tiger lead and knotted the score at 13 all at halftime. Brashear got the 1st score of the 2nd half with a free throw, then the teams swapped the lead a few times before Linn County took the lead and was up 20-16 after 3 quarters. Despite Linn County holding a 6 point lead early in the 4th, Brashear battled back with a 17 point 4th quarter to down the Lady Mustangs by a score of 33-29. For Brashear, Christina Scudder had a 10 point 11 board double-double, Kimberly Elsea had 9, Ashley Clarkson added 7, Hailee Kelsey had 4, and Jessi Hill scored 3 points. For the Lady Mustangs, Whitney Bennett had 16, Jaime Guffey had 5, Amber Munsterman had 4, and Kelsey Tornow and Holly Almond scored 2 points each.
In the other girls semi-final game, top seeded Green City was too much for Novinger picking up a 58-36 win to advance to Thursday's championship game.
