Girls Class 1 District 6 Finals From LaPlata

Green City claims the district title Thursday night ending Brashear's season at 18-9.

The Lady Tigers got on the scoreboard first Thursday and managed to hold the lead 8-6 after the 1st quarter. Brashear maintained the lead until the very end of the 1st half when Green City pulled ahead 20-18 going into halftime. Green City used a strong 3rd quarter to pull ahead 33-26 after 3 quarters. Brashear made a couple of runs during the 4th quarter closing to within 4 at 38-34 with 4 minutes left. With Green City going into their stall game, Brashear was unable to close the gap and 8 4th quarter free throws by Green City sealed the 49-38 win for Green City. Jessi Hill led Brashear with 8 points, Ashley Clarkson, Chelsey Collop, and Christina Scudder scored 7 points each, Kimberly Elsea had 5, and Hailee Kelsey scored 4 points. Green City was led by Chelsea Rouse with 14, Becky Rouse had 10, Jamie Rouse, Miranda Brinsa, and Cloe Phillips each had 6, Amy Denham had 4, and Lindsey Synder scored 3 points.

Green City will advance to Tuesday night's sectional game at Highland to face the winner of the district 5 contest between Silex and Marion County.
