LaPlata Baseball at Brashear Tuesday May 1, 2007
Justin Hazen's 9th inning walk-off homer ruins LaPlata's perfect run this spring. Brashear also picked up a win in the JV game.
Brashear jumped on LaPlata early with back to back home runs by Kale Watson and Tyler Killen in the 1st inning. LaPlata closed the gap to 3-2 on a 2-run Matt Easly homer in the 2nd. LaPlata plated another run in the 3rd to tie the game 3 all. LaPlata scored 3 more in the 4th, then Kiley Watson homered for Brashear to leave LaPlata with a 6-4 lead. Curtiss Bunch hit a home run in the 6th for LaPlata, but Brashear battled back to tie the game 8-8 at the end of regulation play. Neither team scored until Justin Hazen hit a 3-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the 9th giving Brashear the 11-8 win. Jacob Shipman got the start for Brashear with Matt Thomas coming on in relief to pick up the win. David Fouch got the start for LaPlata with Jordan Smith pitching in relief. Brashear also won the JV contest 3-0.
