Brashear Hosts Bucklin in Conference Action
The Tigers take a pair Monday night as the regular season winds down.
The Lady Tigers jumped ahead of Bucklin and led 14-6 at the end of the 1st quarter. Brashear continued to outscore Bucklin in every quarter leading 31-13 at half, 48-19 after 3 and cruising on to a 59-28 conference win. Brashear's Kimberly Elsea led all scorers with 17. Christina Scudder added a 16 point, 12 rebound double-double, Chelsey Collop scored 8, Jessi Hill and Hailee Kelsey had 6 each, Caroline Slavin had 4, and Ashley Clarkson scored 2 points. Bucklin was paced by Heather Main with 15, Amber Liebhart chipped in 6, Alyssa Ware had 4, Paige Casady had 2, and Brittany Gall scored 1 point.
The Brashear boys also jumped out to a 16-11 1st quarter lead and took a 32-21 lead into halftime. Bucklin closed to within 2 points in the 3rd quarter, but Brashear pulled away in the 4th quarter to pick up the 65-53 win. Kale Watson, Jacob Shipman, and Ryan Ferdig were all in double figures for Brashear with 23, 13, and 11 points respectively. Kiley Watson added 9, Justin Hazen and Matt Thomas had 4 each, and David Anderson scored 1 point. For Bucklin, Ethan Jackson had 16, Ben Williams and Chad Jackson had 13 each, Ray-Buck Thomas had 6, Broc Finney had 4, and Hagen McCollum scored 1 point.
