Knox County Softball at Brashear September 24, 2007
The Lady Eagles string together key hits in 2-0 win.
Last Saturday, Brashear and Knox County went 8 innings at the Schuyler County Tournament before Knox prevailed 1-0. Monday night, it looked like it might be another extra inning game as both pitchers held their opponents scoreless through 3 innings. Knox finally got on the board in the 4th with a run on a pair of consecutive hits by Hannah Dale and Amanda Woods. They also added an insurance run in the 7th on a hit and an error. Brashear looked like they would make some noise in the 6th when Jessi Hill lead off with a single and Christina Scudder drew a walk. With runners at 1st and 2nd and no outs, Hailee Kelsey bunted, but Knox managed to force Hill at 3rd. Abby McKim followed with a grounder between 1st and 2nd that skipped up hitting Kelsey for the 2nd out. Carmen Woods then lined a ball back to the pitcher, and Brashear's best scoring chance was over. Abby McKim and Jessi Hill had hits and Christina Scudder drew a pair of walks. Brittany Miller picked up the win giving up 2 hits and striking out 15. Scudder took the loss striking out 11 and giving up 3 hits. Brashear falls to 9-5 on the season.
