Green City JH Basketball Tournament October 12, 2007
Brashear Girls and LaPlata Boys take 1st. Green City Girls and Novinger Boys claim 3rd.
Friday night was the final rounds of the Green City Junior High Basketball Tournament. In the boys' 3rd place game, Brashear played Novinger. Brashear jumped out to a 5-1 lead after the 1st quarter and led 11-8 at halftime. Novinger came storming back after the half scoring 16 points in the 3rd frame to lead 24-17 on their way to a 33-23 win. For Brashear, Cody Snelling had 11, Nick Thomas and Taren Treasure had 4 each, and Hayden Housman and Matt McCloud each scored 2 points. For Novinger, Austin Martin had 8, William Dyer had 6, Logan Morrow scored 5, Shelton Johnson and Chazz White had 4 each, and Ben Morelock and Brandon Baird scored 3 points each.
The Brashear girls faced Novinger in the 1st place game. Novinger jumped out to a 13-4 1st quarter lead and held a 17-11 lead at halftime. Brashear used a 16 point 3rd quarter to take the lead 27-23 and held off Novinger in the 4th to take the 36-29 win. Brashear was paced by Shelby Rogers with 15, Macy Rogers had 10, Kristen Love and Sydney Slavin had 4 each, Shelby Salter had 2, and Chandi March had 1 point. For Novinger, Becca White had 17, Samantha Daniels had 10, and Renatta Blackorby had 2 points.
In the girls' 3rd place game, it was Green City 31 - LaPlata 19 and in the boys' championship game it was LaPlata 41 - Green City 32.
