The Lady Tigers lose a close one while the Tigers extend their streak to 6-0 on the season.
The 7-8 grade girls from Brashear and LaPlata played a close game Saturday. The score was knotted 2-2 after the 1st period of play and was also tied 10-10 at halftime. LaPlata was able to take a 12-11 lead after 3 quarters and held on for the 17-16 win. For Brashear, Macy Rogers had 8, Katie Smith scored 6, and Shelby Salter had 2 points. For LaPlata, Erin Boren had 6 points, Beth Hays had 5, and Molly Safely, Mallory Eitel, and Katy Mills had 2 points each.
In the boy's contest, Brashear led 9-4 at the end of the 1st and extended their lead to 21-4 at halftime. The Tigers led 27-8 after 3 quarters and picked up the win by a score of 29-14. Brashear was paced by Joe Clarkson with 10 points, Taren Treasure had 7, Joseph Woods and Nick Thomas had 5 each, and Andy Belzer scored 2 points. For LaPlata, Payton Swift had 8 points, Jake Waddle had 4, and Justin Riggins had 2 points.
