Atlanta Junior High Basketball Tournament Tuesday night results.

Top seeds prevail as Brashear and Macon County girls and Atlanta and Green City boys advance.

The Brashear and LaPlata girls kicked off the evening's action with Brashear taking an early lead. LaPlata made a late charge going into halftime tied 9-9 after trailing 9-5. LaPlata kept the momentum after the half going up 17-10 and finishing the 3rd quarter with a 21-16 lead. Despite LaPlata's attempt to slow the game down, Brashear managed to chip away at the LaPlata lead and pulled ahead 23-22 on a pair of free throws with 1:09 left in the game. Brashear got another pair of free throws with less than a second left on the clock to seal the win 25-22. For Brashear, Shelby Salter had 9 points, Macy Rogers scored 8, Shelby Rogers had 5, and Sydney Slavin had 3 points. For LaPlata, Taylor Billington and Rachel Shahan had 6 each, Makay Belt had 5, Mallory Eitel scored 3, and Emily Heisler scored 2 points.

Brashear will face Macon County Thursday at 7:00 and LaPlata will play Green City Thursday at 5:00.

In the second game of the night, the Brashear boys faced Green City. Green City and Brashear both came out pressing hard and Green City went out to an 8-2 lead before Brashear cracked the press 3 times for fast break buckets to even the score 8-8. The 1st quarter ended with the score tied 10-10. Green City went on a run in the second quarter going up 20-14 at the midway point and taking a 23-16 lead into halftime. Brashear mounted a comeback in the second half pulling within 33-30 after 3 quarters and tying the game 33-33 with 5:30 left in the 4th. From that point on, Green City held Brashear scoreless until a pair of Brashear free throws with 1:38 left pulled the Tigers within 9 at 44-35. Green City went on to win by a final margin of 52-43. For Brashear, Adam Songer had 20, Cody Snelling scored 8, Taren Treasure and Hayden Housman each scored 4, Nick Thomas had 3 points, and Joseph Woods and Joe Clarkson each had 2 points. Green City was led by Garrett King with 16, Christopher Hoerrman had 14, Aaron Conner scored 8 points, Cody Holt and Jacob Hubbard had 6 each, and Grant Kilgore scored 2 points.

Green City will play Atlanta Thursday at 8:00 and Brashear will face Macon County Thursday at 6:00
