Bevier and LaPlata girls and Brashear boys end the tournament on winning notes.
They say it is hard to beat a team 3 times, and the Brashear boys proved that in their 34-30 win over Novinger in the Consolation game Friday night. The Tigers jumped out to a 21-11 lead at halftime, then held on as Novinger outscored them 9-5 in the third quarter and 10-8 in the fourth quarter. Brashear got 15 points from Cody Snelling in the 1st half on his way to a 17-point effort. Joe Clarkson added 4 points each half for 8 points, Jay Scudder came off the bench with 4 fourth quarter points, Hayden Housman had 3, and Nick Thomas had 2 points. For Novinger, Ben Morelock had 15, Austin Martin added 8, Logan Morrow had 4, William Dyer had 2, and Shelton Johnson had 1 point.
The girls' Consolation game was a wild one with Bucklin running up a 14-2 halftime lead. The game did a complete 180 in the 2nd half with LaPlata holding Bucklin scoreless until under a minute left in the game while coming from behind for the 19-16 win.
In the final contest of the evening, the Bevier girls took 3rd place with a 34-28 win over Macon County.
