Mary Immaculate Hawks Visit Brashear Tuesday November 13, 2007
Brashear wraps up their junior high basketball season with 7th and 8th grade games against Mary Immaculate.
When Mary Immaculate came to town early in the season, Brashear got wins in both the girls and boys games, but not before both games went to overtime. In Tuesday's girls game, Brashear took the lead early at 11-8 after 1 quarter and 22-17 at halftime. The Lady Tigers then blew the game open in the 3rd, going up 35-19 on their way to a 45-30 win. Macy Rogers led Brashear with 19 points, Kristen Love had 12, Miranda Creason and Shelby Salter added 6 each, and Chandi March scored 2 points. For the Lady Hawks, Laurel Haxton had 17, Kallie Holte scored 11, and Natalie Moore had 2 points.
Brashear led the boys contest 4-3 after the 1st quarter, but Mary Immaculate made a run in the 2nd taking a 10-4 lead before Brashear battled back to go into halftime tied 10-10. The Hawks made another scoring run in the third taking a 21-10 lead. Again, Brashear began to battle back, eventually closing to within 21-18 before the Hawks put the game away picking up the 34-28 win. For Brashear, Hayden Housman had 10 points, Nick Thomas had 9, Joe Clarkson scored 5, and Taren Treasure had 4 points. Mary Immaculate was led by Quinn Benson with 12, Tyler Gregory had 11, Scott Schwend added 5 points, Tracy Darnell had 4, and Nathaniel Holte scored 2 points.
