Brashear Kicks Off Spring Baseball Season

The Tigers suffer Varsity and JV losses at Knox County March 26, 2008.

The Brashear Varsity squad jumped on the board in the 1st inning with a run, but Knox County plated a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning. Brashear tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the second and the score was tied 6-6 after 4 innings. Things came unglued for the Tigers in the 5th inning when Knox County scored 10 runs to take the game by a score of 16-6. Jacob Shipman led the Tiger offense with a 2 for 3 performance including a 3-run homer in the 4th inning. Kiley Watson also was 2 for 3, and Justin Hazen, Koty Hayden, and Cody Snelling also had hits. Matt Thomas got the start for Brashear with Michael McKim and Kale Watson pitching in relief.

The JV contest saw Brashear surrender 3 runs in the 1st, then battle back within a run at 3-2 in the top of the third. The game ended as a 2-out steal of home attempt ended with the runner being thrown out.
