Brashear Baseball at LaPlata April 29, 2008
The host Bulldogs claim a pair of wins over the Tigers.
Brashear’s Matt Thomas started off the game with a bruise. After being hit by a pitch, he managed to steal 2nd and 2 batters later, Jacob Shipman drove him in to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. That lead was short-lived as LaPlata jumped on the board with 6 runs in the bottom of the 1st on their way to an 11-1 win. Kale Watson also had a hit for the Tigers and Michael McKim took the loss on the mound going 4 innings with Matt Thomas pitching 1.2 innings of relief.
In the JV game, the Tigers got things going in the top of the 2nd as Hayden Coin drew a leadoff walk, Jay Scudder hit a long single to right-center moving Coin the 3rd, and Richard Coy drew a walk to load the bases. Matt Thomas stepped to the plate and drove a ball deep over the right field fence for a grand slam giving Brashear a 4-0 lead. The night’s scoring was far from done as LaPlata put up 4 runs of their own in the bottom of the 2nd. Brashear scored again in the 3rd as Coin walked, then Scudder, Justin Hazen, Dillon Redding, and Adam Songer all had hits to add another 4 runs. Ultimately, the Tigers couldn’t hold onto the lead and LaPlata took the game 10-8.
