Brashear Baseball Hosts LaPlata May 6, 2008

The Bulldogs come out on top in a varsity/JV double-header.

The LaPlata Bulldogs wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in the 1st inning as they scored twice on a Curtiss Bunch single and the 1st of two Dusty Baker homeruns in the game. The Tigers got on the board in the 3rd as Brandon Gordon and Kale Watson both singled and Matt Thomas drove them in with a 2-rbi triple. The other Tiger run came in the 5th as Cody Snelling drew a walk, and Justin Hazen drove him in. Brashear’s 3 runs weren’t enough as LaPlata went on to tally 16 of their own to get the win. Matt Thomas took the loss for Brashear with Kale Watson pitching in relief. In the JV contest, LaPlata came out on top 6-2. After falling behind in the early going, the JV Tigers got a pair of runs in the 3rd as Richard Coy was hit by a pitch, Michael McKim singled, and Dillon Redding walked. Cody Snelling then reached on an error driving in a run, and Brandon Gordon drew a bases-loaded walk driving in another run. It looked like Brashear might score again in the 4th as Daniel Smith started out the inning with a double, and Jay Scudder reached 1st on a dropped 3rd strike, but both runners ended up stranded on base.
