Brashear Baseball at Canton May 9, 2008

 

The visiting Brashear Tigers fall to the host Canton Tigers in a 19-9 slugfest.

 

Brashear jumped on the board 1st with a pair of runs as leadoff batter Kale Watson legged out an infield hit, then cleanup hitter Jacob Shipman drove a ball over the right-center fence for a 2-out homerun. Canton answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 1st and then jumped into the lead in the bottom of the 2nd scoring 7 runs. Brashear went on to put up 9 runs including back to back homers by Matt Thomas and Shipman in the 4th. Canton added another 6 runs in the 3rd and 4 runs in the 5th to get the win 19-9. For Brashear, Jacob Shipman went 3-3 with a pair of homers and 4 rbi’s. Matt Thomas had a homer and 2 rbi’s, and Kale Watson and Adam Songer also had hits and Kiley Watson, Koty Hayden and Brandon Gordon had rbi’s. Shipman, Hayden, and Songer got the duties on the mound in Brashear’s losing effort. D. Baker homered for Canton.
