Brashear Hosts Linn County Friday August 29, 2008

The Tigers pick up a varsity softball/varsity baseball double-header sweep in Tri-County Conference action.

The Linn County Lady Mustangs took an early lead and were up 5-2 in the top of the 5th. In the bottom of the 5th, a series of walks and wild pitches allowed Brashear to go ahead 6-5. Linn County tied the game at 6-6 in the top of the 6th, but a series of walks and errors plus a hit put Brashear ahead 11-6 for the win. Cierra Hines and Macy Rogers teamed up on the mound for Brashear.

The baseball game was all Brashear as the Tigers went up 2-0 in the 1st. Ryan Ferdig added solo home runs in the 2nd and 4th innings and drove in another pair of runs in the 5th. Cody Snelling and Matt Thomas also had back to back homers in the 3rd inning. Thomas also picked up his 2nd and 3rd rbi's in the 5th to end the game early by the mercy rule. Linn County's only offense can from a 2-run homer in the 4th as Brashear breezed to a 12-2 win. Michael McKim got the win striking out 7 and scattering 3 hits in 5 innings.
