Atlanta Softball Tournament Results August 30, 2008

Novinger finished first, Brashear was second, and Atlanta took third place in a 3-team round robin.

The Brashear Lady Tigers headed to Atlanta Saturday morning for a little tournament action. In the 1st game, Brashear took an early 3-1 lead over host Atlanta, then blew the game open with an 11 run third inning. Atlanta answered with 4 runs in the 4th, but couldn't close the gap. Brashear won by a final score of 21-7. Emily Ladwig and Kristen Love teamed up on the mound for the win.

In the 2nd game of the day, Brashear and Novinger both started quietly going 1-2-3 in the 1st. Novinger got the bats going in the 2nd and took a 3-0 lead. They extended the lead with 2 more runs in the 3rd to lead 5-0. Brashear's Macy Rogers led off the 4th with a solo home run, then 3 singles and a walk allowed Brashear to cut the deficit to 5-2. Novinger answered with another run in the bottom of the 4th. Brashear put up 3 more runs in the 5th, then tied the game in the top of the 7th on an Abby McKim rbi double. In the bottom of the 7th, walks and a wild pitch ultimately allowed Novinger to score the winning run to take the game 7-6.

In the final game of the day, Novinger beat host Atlanta 19-0 to claim 1st place in the tournament.
