Brashear JV at Atlanta Thursday September 18, 2008

The visiting Tigers sweep a pair of JV games in a softball/baseball double-header.

The softball game was all Brashear with the Tigers jumping out to a 1-0 lead after one inning and a 5-0 lead after 2 frames on the way to a 12-0 win. Atlanta made some noise in the 2nd as they loaded they bases but failed to score. For Brashear, Chandi March had 3 hits, Kristen Love and Chloe Sykes had 2 hits each, and Emily Ladwig, Katelyn Guffey, Sydney Slavin, and Stephanie Linhart also had hits. Ladwig went the distance on the mound striking out 6.

The baseball game was a see-saw battle. Brashear scored a run in the top of the 1st stranding 3 runners, but Atlanta answered with 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st. The Tiger bats came alive in the 2nd pushing 6 runs across to take a 7-4 lead. Atlanta closed the gap to 7-6 in the bottom of the frame, and pulled ahead 8-7 after 3 innings. Brashear answered with another another 4 runs to take the lead for good winning 14-9. Hayden Coin had 2 hits including a home run, Jay Scudder had a single and a double, missing a homerun by inches, and Dillon Redding also had 2 hits. Daniel Smith doubled and Mike McKim also had a hit. Hayden Coin got the start for Brashear with Nick Thomas getting the win in relief.
