The Scotland County Lady Tigers and the Brashear Tigers win in non-conference basketball action.
The girls' game saw both teams have a little trouble scoring in the early going with Brashear trailing 5-4 midway through the first quarter. That was soon to change as Scotland County went on a 14-0 run that put them ahead 16-4 at the end of the first quarter and 31-9 at halftime. Both teams had their best offensive quarter in the 3rd with Scotland County extending their lead to 55-18 on their way to a 63-21 win. Macy Rogers had 10 points for Brashear, Stephanie Elsea and Emily Ladwig had 4 points each, Shelby Rogers had 2, and Katie Smith scored 1 point. For Scotland County, Melissa Cotton scored 21, Ashley Tague had 18, Kaitlin Caldwell added 9, Betsy Kittle scored 8, Deidra Dochterman had 5, and Valerie Oldham scored 2 points.
In the boys' game, Brashear pulled out to a 16-11 lead after one quarter of play and led 43-23 going into halftime. Scotland County pulled within 12 in the third quarter, but Brashear ended the 3rd up 59-43 and picked up the win 77-55. Trae Treasure scored 18 points for Brashear, Kiley Watson added 17, Ryan Ferdig had 13, Matt Thomas scored 11 points, Anthony Ambrosia had 6, Justin Hazen had 5, Cody Snelling and Jay Scudder scored 2 points each, and Hayden Coin scored 1 point. Scotland County was led by Jacob Howard with 29 points, Kyle Shelley chipped in 12, Brandon Garnett had 5, Caleb Kittle had 3, Kasey Dial and Andrew Duley scored 2 each, and Harley Stone and Drew Miller scored 1 point each.
