North Shelby Tournament Friday January 23, 2009
Consolation and 7th place games are held Friday.
In the girls' 7th place game, Brashear and Atlanta duked it out for most of the first quarter with neither team able to take more than a 2 point lead. Brashear managed to lead 14-10 at the end of the first quarter, but both teams scored 10 each in the second leaving Brashear ahead 24-20 at the half. Brashear and Atlanta each put up another 10 points in the third to make the score 34-30 before Brashear pulled away in the 4th for a 49-36 win. Brashear had 4 players in double figures. Macy Rogers scored 13, Abby McKim, Emily Ladwig, and Shelby Rogers had 10 points each, Caroline Slavin had 4, and Sydney Slavin scored 2 points. For Atlanta, Amanda Spearman scored 12 points, Beth Voss had 10, Nicole Sloan had 6, Tricia Pore had 4, and Miranda Hruska and Amelia Smothers scored 2 points each.
In the boys' 7th place game, the Atlanta boys edged Marion County 46-44. The North Shelby girls won the consolation game 39-31 over LaPlata and the Scotland County boys took consolation with a 48-37 win over North Shelby.
