Brashear at Novinger Friday February 20, 2009
The Tigers and Wildcats split a pair of Tri-County Conference varsity basketball games.
Friday was homecoming at Novinger. The evening started with 2 quarters of boys' B basketball. Brashear came out on top of that contest by a score of 31-19. Michael McKim led the Tigers with 10 points, Cody Snelling added 8, Hayden Coin had 7, Adam Songer had 4, and Jay Scudder scored 2 points. Austin Martin led Novinger with 6 points.
In the varsity girls' game, Brashear led 10-7 after the 1st quarter and 19-14 at halftime. Novinger started making a comeback in the third trailing only 34-32 at the end of the quarter. The Lady Wildcats outscored Brashear 18-8 in the 4th quarter to claim a 50-42 homecoming win. Macy Rogers led Brashear with 15 points, Emily Ladwig and Shelby Rogers had 8 points each, Stephanie Elsea had 5, Abby McKim had 4, and Caroline Slavin scored 2 points. For Novinger, Samantha Daniels had 17 points, Kelsey Potter added 15, Trisha Potter had 10, Renatta Blackorby had 5, and Ariel Rader score 3 points.
The Brashear boys played the homecoming spoilers jumping out to a 29-17 halftime lead and getting the win 64-33. Matt Thomas led Brashear with 13 points, Justin Hazen had 10, Anthony Ambrosia and Trae Treasure had 9 each, Kiley Watson and Ryan Ferdig scored 8 each, Cody Snelling had 3, and Michael McKim and Hayden Coin scored 2 points each. For Novinger, Aric Luman scored 12 points, Trevor Munday had 6, Cory Smith had 5 points, and Brandon Baird, Austin Martin, Ben Morelock, Chazz White, and Logan Morrow scored 2 points each.
