Scotland County Softball at Brashear August 24, 2009
The Scotland County Lady Tigers spoiled Brashear's season opener with an extra inning win.
Scotland County took an early 1-0 lead in the top of 1st and added another run in the top of the 3rd. Brashear tied the game at 2-2 with runs in the bottom of the 3rd and 4th innings. Brashear scored twice in the 6th to lead 4-2 going into the final frame but couldn't close the game out allowing 2 Scotland County runs to put the game into extra innings. Neither team scored in the 8th, but Scotland County finally prevailed as they scored twice in the top of the 9th for a 6-4 victory. Shelby Salter led Brashear's offensive efforts with a triple and 2 singles. Cierra Hines had a pair of hits, Katie Watson, Katie Smith, and Ashley Watson each doubled, and Abby McKim and Stephanie Linhart each had singles. For Scotland County, Lister had a double, and Duzan, Creek, Smith, Alderton, Holt, and Jackson had hits. Cierra Hines got the start for Brashear striking out 7 with Kristen Love pitching in relief in the 8th inning.
