Brashear JH Basketball at LaPlata October 20, 2009

The Tigers drop a pair of games on the road to the Bulldogs.

Brashear and LaPlata played out a see-saw battle in the 1st half of the girls' game with a late LaPlata bucket giving the Bulldogs a 13-10 lead at halftime. Brashear's offense stalled in the 2nd half and LaPlata pulled away to a 19-13 lead after 3 quarters and won by a margin of 25-13. Allison Thomspon led Brashear scorers with 5 points, Meredith Thomas had 4, and Ashley Moncrief and Kayla Snelling scored 2 points each. For LaPlata, Molly Safely had 7 points, Elizabeth Hays and Erin Boren had 6 points each, Morgan Kimmel had 4, and Taylor Snodgrass scored 2 points.

In the boys' game, LaPlata took a 9-5 1st quarter lead and led 20-10 at halftime. The Bulldogs extended their lead over Brashear in the 3rd quarter to 40-19 and eventually won by a score of 44-21. Hayden Housman scored 15 points for Brashear, Chance Hill and Marcus Jefferson had 2 each, and Nick Bradshaw and Jacob Reeves scored 1 point each. For LaPlata, Matthew Safely scored 12 points, Seth Brown and Baylon Belt had 9 each, Andrew Perry had 7, Tanner Riggins had 5, and Trenton Murray scored 2 points.

In B quarters, the LaPlata girls topped Brashear 12-2 and the LaPlata boys won 18-8.
