Green City JH Basketball at Brashear October 23, 2009
The Brashear Lady Tigers get A and B wins while Green City takes the boys' contest.
The Brashear A girls jumped out to a 10-3 1st quarter lead and were up 12-6 at half-time. The Lady Tigers continued to lead 15-9 after 3 quarters and won by a score of 20-16. Meredith Thomas had 8 points for Brashear and Kayla Snelling, Allison Thompson, and Olivia Thompson scored 4 points each. For Green City, Cheyenne Heaton had 6 points, Trystine Franey and Jessica Berry had 3 each, and Alicia Albrecht and Marissa LaFaver scored 2 points each.
In the girls' B game, the two teams battled to a 6-6 tie after one quarter, but Brashear pulled ahead during the 2nd quarter to win 13-9. For Brashear, Nikki Moncrief had 5 points, and Audrey DeBie, Rachel Heimer, Ashley Moncrief, and Alli Garrett scored 2 points each. Green City's Ashley Lewis had 5 points, and Mollie Carmack and Sonya Ward had 2 points each.
The boys' game ended it's 1st quarter with a 6-6 tie, but Green City pulled ahead 12-8 at halftime. The Gophers still lead 17-12 after 3 quarters, but the Tigers mounted a late rally that fell just short giving Green City a 26-24 win. Hayden Housman led Brashear with 12 points, Chance Hill had 6, Jacob Reeves added 5, and Nick Bradshaw scored 1 point. For Green City, Jared Brundage had 16 points, Keagen Franey had 5, Hadley Williams had 3, and Jericho Search scored 2 points.
