Mary Immaculate 7-8 Basketball at Brashear October 26, 2009

The Tigers sweep a pair of games from the visiting Hawks.

Brashear jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the girls game and were up 11-7 at the half. The Lady Tigers held Mary Immaculate scoreless in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 17-7 on their way to a 19-13 win. Brashear was paced by Meredith Thomas with 12 points, Audrey DeBie added 4, Nikki Moncrief had 2 points, and Allison Thompson scored 1 point. For the Lady Hawks, Emily Schwend scored 9 points, and Allie Freeland and Kaitley Hagar scored 2 points each.

Brashear fell behind in the early going of the boys' game trailing 10-5 after 1 quarter and 18-12 at the half. The Tigers started closing the gap in the second half, pulling within 20-19 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The game was nip and tuck during the 4th quarter with Brashear pulling ahead for a 32-28 win. Jacob Reeves scored 12 points for Brashear, Gabe Thomas added 6, Tristin Smith had 5 points, Marcus Jefferson had 4, Chance Hill had 3, and Sam Smith scored 2 points. For the Hawks, Koby Bird scored 14 points, Andrew Mansfield had 6, and Ryan Ciehanski and Luke Morrow scored 4 points each.
