The Tigers fall victim to the visiting Raiders.
Brashear and Macon County fought a see-saw battle Tuesday night in the girls' game. Macon County led 9-8 after 1 quarter, but Brashear was up 16-12 at the half. The game remained close in the 2nd half with Macon County pulling ahead 17-16 after 3 quarters and hanging on for a 27-23 win. Allison Thompson led Brashear scoring with 13 points, Meredith Thomas had 8, and Abby Hall scored 2 points. For Macon County, Bailey Ratliff scored 18 points, Kailey Grinder had 7, and Jessica Jacobs scored 2 points.
The Brashear boys' team stayed close in the early going with the 1st quarter ending in a 5-5 tie. Macon County found the shooting range in the 2nd quarter taking a 13-6 lead into halftime. Macon County continued outscoring Brashear in the 2nd half pulling away to win by a score 33-13. Hayden Housman scored 7 points for Brashear, Jacob Reeves added 3, Gabe Thomas had 2, and Jeremy Barnes scored 1 point. Macon County was paced by Dillan Nolte with 12 points, Dylan Liebhart and Alex Porter added 7 each, Damon Porter had 4, Wyatt Short had 2, and Brady Duncan scored 1 point.
In the boys' B quarters, Macon County led 10-6 after 1 quarter, but Brashear battled back to tie the game 12-12 after the 2nd quarter. The teams played a 1-minute overtime, but neither scored leaving the final result a 12-12 tie. Sam Smith and Gabe Thomas each scored 6 points for Brashear. Macon County scoring was led by Brady Duncan with 6 points, Zach Duncan and Daniel Hernandez had 2 each, and Wyatt Short and Derek Lochner scored 1 point each.
