Brashear JH Basketball at Novinger November 3, 2009
The Tigers stumble on the road Tuesday.
The Lady Tigers suffered a disastrous 1st half falling behind 11-3 after 1 quarter and 13-3 at halftime. Things went a little better in the 2nd half, but the Tigers could never mount a serious challenge and fell to the Wildcats 30-16. Meredith Thomas had 9 points for Brashear, Kayla Snelling, Allison Thompson, and Olivia Thompson had 2 each, and Miranda Creason scored 1 point. For Novinger, Gunnels scored 9, Hubbard had 8, Reardon had 4, and Blackorby, Eads, and Jacques each scored 3 points.
Things looked promising for the Tigers in the early going as they led 8-2 after 1 quarter, but Novinger mounted a late rally to pull within 1 point 10-9 going into the half. Novinger had the hot hand in the second half outscoring Brashear 13-2 in the 3rd quarter on their way to a 30-16 win. Brashear's Hayden Housman scored 14 points in the losing effort with Nick Bradshaw adding 2 points. For Novinger, Rodman had 8 points, Klingsmith and Daniels had 6 each, Smith and Tade added 4 each, and Robinson scored 2 points.
In the boys' B quarters, Novinger led 6-3 after 1 quarter and won 13-10. Gabe Thomas scored 5 for Brashear, Curtis Blakely had 3, and Tristin Smith scored 2 points. For Novinger, Sevits had 8 points, Robinson had 4, and Gashwiler scored 1 point.
