The Milan girls and Scotland County boys advance to Saturday's championship games.
The Brashear Lady Tigers and the Novinger Lady Wildcats met Wednesday in the consolation semi-final game. Novinger started the game with a 5-0 run, but Brashear battled back briefly taking a 10-8 lead before Novinger retook a 12-11 lead at the end of one quarter of play. Novinger's 7-0 run to start the 2nd quarter proved to be Brashear's undoing as the Lady Wildcat press and strong rebounding allowed Novinger to take a 27-15 lead at halftime. Novinger continued to dominate in the 3rd quarter extending their lead to 44-19. Brashear recovered somewhat in the 4th matching Novinger point for point giving Novinger the victory by a score of 54-29. Stephanie Elsea was the top scorer for Brashear with 9 points, Shelby Salter, Katie Smith, Olivia Thompson, and Sydney Slavin had 4 points each, and Chandi March and Ashley Watson scored 2 points each. For Novinger, Chloe Hubbard scored 10 points, Kelsey Potter and Becca White had 8 each, Trisha Potter had 7 points, Ariel Rader scored 6 points, Callie Farrell and Samantha Daniels scored 4 points each, Renatta Blackorby had 3, and Rachel Frost and Mallory Singleton scored 2 points each.
The girls' championship semi-final saw Milan topple Bevier 67-33. On the boys' side, Scotland County advanced to the championship game with a 62-40 victory over Green City and Bevier went into overtime to defeat Milan 50-44 to advance to the consolation game.
