Brashear at Scotland County January 11, 2010
The host Scotland County Tigers take a pair of non-conference basketball games from the visiting Brashear Tigers.
In the girls' game, Scotland County and Brashear were close in the early going before Scotland County opened up a 17-6 1st quarter lead and a 43-19 lead at the half. Scotland County kept up their offensive intensity in the 2nd half, picking up the win by a final score of 78-22. For Brashear, Stephanie Elsea scored 10 points, Abby McKim had 4, Shelby Salter and Katie Smith had 3 each, and Katie Watson and Megan Taylor scored 1 point each. Scotland County was paced by Skyler Alderton with 25 points, Cali Holt had 14, Ashley Tague added 9, Anna Duley had 8, Aimee Dale had 7 points, Kiley Frazier had 6, Jamie Shaw had 5, and Courtney Jackson scored 4 points.
The boys' game was close through most of the 1st quarter as both teams pressed aggressively. A pair of late 3-pointers allowed Scotland County to take a 25-15 lead at the end of the quarter. The 2nd quarter was a disaster for Brashear as Scotland County turned up the pressure and ran their lead to 41-15 at halftime. The 3rd quarter saw Brashear come out of the locker room and score a couple of quick buckets to close the gap to 41-20, but were then unable to close the gap any further. Brashear pulled their starters for the 4th quarter while Scotland County continued to hammer away offensively, running the final score to 72-35. Cody Snelling scored 11 points for Brashear, Adam Songer added 8, Matt Thomas and Zach Reeves had 4 each, Anthony Ambrosia and Taren Treasure had 3 each, and Jay Scudder scored 2 points. For Scotland County, Kasey Dial had 19 points, Dakota Wells had 12, Brandon Garnett added 11, Kyle Shelley had 10, Harley Stone and Drew Miller had 9 each, and Brock Bondurant scored 2 points.
